Sweetened Beverage Tax in Philadelphia
Please be informed that Philadelphia City has passed a legislation to impose a $0.015/ounce tax on sweetened beverage starting January 1, 2017. Be prepared for this new regulation if you or your distributor is selling sweetened beverage in PA.
Consumer needs to pay $0.1515 per can (10.1 oz) and $3.636 (24’s) per carton, which is an additional more than 20% -25% increase to the current consumer price. This will cause a great impact on the sweetened beverage industry.
